Transmit a Video Signal & Power Up to 100 Metres Using a single CAT-5 Cable

Sends & Receives Video & Power
100 Metre Transmission
Easy Connection
Suits CAT 5 Installations

Using CAT5 cable to run video and data signals is easy to do and produces excellent results over considerable distances.

Whereas co-ax cables are classed as an unbalanced mode of transmission, CAT5 twisted pair is known as a balanced mode. In this balanced mode, the two cores carrying the video signal are balanced to a particular reference point and the cable twists enable a uniform rejection of the interference, effectively cancelling it out. To produce a balanced signal BALUNs are used, standing for Balanced to Unbalanced.

The CON810 is able to transmit power as well as video down a CAT5 cable over distances of up to 100 metres depending on the camera load. (Typically 100M with a 100mA load).

Using a CON810 balun at each end of the CAT5, a balun is plugged into the video and power sockets of the camera. An RJ45 socket then takes the CAT5 cable back to a monitor/DVR and power supply where the second balun is plugged in. Our useful VID400 connector will connect the power plug of the balun to that of a standard 2.1mm DC power plug on a PSU.
